“Lovely place to stay, Comfortable and great hosts.”
Reviewed 6 February 2017

My partner Eva and I travelled to Cocos Keeling to scuba dive and we were absolutely delighted with the scuba diving and equally with our accommodation at Cocos Castaway.
The fun started the minute we walked out of the airport. On being greeted by our host Annelies and Dieter from Cocos Dive we then rolled our luggage trollies the 150 metres to our lovely self-contained room. I was thinking that we would be needing a taxi….
The proximity to everything was fantastic, everything including the Cocos Club, the restaurant, a lovely little coffee shop, supermarket and the Tourism Information Centre were a very short walk from our accommodation.

“Brilliant; Excellent place to stay on Cocos”

Reviewed January, 2017

My sister and I stayed with our parents in a two bedroom single story apartment. There aren’t many places in the world where accommodation right next to the airport is a good thing, but this is one. Pretty much everything on West Island is next to the airport, which means that you are 15 seconds away from your room when the plane arrives, and you have your own private lounge to retreat to after checking in for your departure flight!

It is right next door to the restaurant, across the road from the club and the Tourist Info, and 2 mins from the general store. The bus stop to the wharf is out front and the place has free bicycles.

The rooms were comfortable, well air conditioned and had all the conveniences, including kitchen facilities and picnic facilities. Well almost. Turns out no GSM phones work on Cocos and the only wifi is horrendously expensive, so treat Cocos like a break from the world!

“Fantastic location on a beautiful Island”

Reviewed 25th January, 2017

Was on Cocos for work. Stayed at Castaway and it was fantastic. Neat and tidy room, comfortable bed, well equipped kitchen (even had picnic stuff), washing machine and view of the beach from the deck.
Beautiful beaches all around – a must do the motorised kayak with Kylie and Ash – the snorkelling and beaches will blow u away.    I left my toothbrush behind and Graham and Annelies arranged to send it back to me….

“Loss of Time & Space”

Reviewed Dec 2016

After a stressful work period there is no better way to relax and ground yourself. No phones no internet, it was exactly what we needed. The bungalow is very nice, fully equipped and located directly at the beach. Bar, restaurant and supermarket are only a coconut throw away. Graham and his wife Annelies were very helpful, nice and friendly. We hope we will come back one day.

“This is what a Holiday should be…”
Reviewed Dec 2016
We usually have a holiday which involves spending every waking moment seeing the sights and travelling from one place to the next. Cocos Island is a place to unwind and relax.
Cocos Castaway is ideally located with the airport, supermarket, Visitor’s Information Centre, the pub and Tropika Restaurant within one block.
We stayed in the Sea Shanty room which is a Superior Unit. We had a verandah on two sides and being an end room only one neighbour. The room was clean and very comfortable with milk, aeroguard and basic toiletries supplied. We could cook using the microwave or the electric frypan.
Our stay was wonderful and we relaxed taking beach walks, sitting on our deck or watching the sunset with a glass of wine on the strategically place chairs at the waters edge. Wi-Fi is expensive and slow and there is no mobile phone coverage so you can truly disconnect. There is a small TV which has a range of channels so you can keep up with what’s happening in the world.
Bikes were provided but we hired a car for the day to tour the island, stopping to swim and snorkel as well as seeing the sights.
Loved Cocos Castaway – this is no resort but a perfect place to stay and enjoy this unspoiled island.
“Great Stay….. Lovely Hosts”
Reviewed November 25th 2016

We had a lovely 5 night stay which was a day longer than planned due to the Virgin flight 27 hour delay. From the time Annelies met us at the airport to walk us the 100 metres to the unit til her husband Graham helping us to open coconuts during our last hour on the island, we couldn’t really fault anything. Nice, clean self contained unit (standard villa) with kitchenette and shared verandah. The air conditioning (in addition to the ceiling fan) was a welcome relief esp on hot afternoons.

Little things impressed us like the 1 litre milk in the fridge for us, picnic basket and esky,in the room for picnics, large freezer outside room to store food, beach towels, in room safe etc.

Close to every thing including the Cocos Club, supermarket, visitor centre and the bus stop to the Rumah Bahru wharf for the ferry. Free bikes to use although they had no gears and the handles were a little loose…island was flat so easy to ride to both the northern and southern tip of the West Island. Loved all the islands and if we ever come back to Cocos Islands (hope so!), we won’t hesitate to stay here again!

Ps really enjoyed talking to Graham who is in to kite surfing, and you need to ask him how he got his kite down which was stuck high up on a coconut tree!
